18th Annual Foss Lake Christmas in July Festival

Events have been set for the 18th annual Christmas in July Festival to be held at Foss State Park July 9th thru the 11th. This is one of the largest outdoor events in Western Oklahoma and draws thousands of visitors and vendors from several states. All events will be held just north of the marina at Foss Lake.

The Southern State Amusement and Carnival will be open to the public beginning Thursday evening, July 9th, and remain open through Saturday evening. Several vendors will be in place and ready for business Thursday evening when the Amusement Park opens.

The official kick-off for the Festival is at 1 pm Friday, July 10th, with all vendors open for business. A variety of merchandise will be offered including arts and crafts, custom jewelry, antiques and collectibles, primitives and great food with vendors from 5 states. The Festival’s opening ceremony, beginning Friday evening at 6 o’clock, will honor Veterans of Foreign Wars and will include Representative Purcy Walker, Representative Ryan McMullan and the Cheyenne-Arapaho Military Band. Then, from 8pm-11pm, enjoy a free concert featuring The Side Bar Band at the main stage. At 9:30 pm, judging of decorated campers and cabins will begin (Entries must be turned in to B&K Bait House or the Park Office by 5pm Friday) and will include cash prizes and trophies to the winners.

Festivities will continue Saturday morning at 9am with various entertainments throughout the day including the Foss Lake Little King & Queen Contest at 10 am (ages 1 to 12 can enter by calling 580-497-627), The Open Mic Gospel Music Jamboree from 2-4pm and a performance by the Local Regiment Band at 6pm. All located on the main stage.

Also, the Western Oklahoma Downed Bikers Association Inc. will be hosting a Bike Show and Motorcycle Poker Run with all proceeds benefiting the Veterans Center Comfort Room. The Bike Show will be from 10am until noon, involving 5 classes of bikes with trophies for each class. Entry fees for the Bike Show is $15 per bike. Registration will begin for the Motorcycle Poker Run at noon. Entry fees for the run include $15 single, $20 double and $10 for second hands with the first bike out at 1 pm, and last bike in at 5pm. There will also be a Watercraft Poker Run beginning at 3 pm at the marina sponsored by Brooks Marine in Elk City. To participate in the Watercraft Poker Run, get your registration form at www.fosslake.com or contact Brook’s Marine. Entry fees will be $15 and must be turned in to B&K Bait House by 10 am Saturday. Payouts for the Motorcycle and Watercraft Poker Runs will each be $350 for the high hand, second high hand $100 and $150 for the low hand plus a 50/50 pot.

Saturday evening at dusk, the Lighted Watercraft Parade will begin and be judged awarding $250 for 1st place, $125 for 2nd place and $75 for 3rd place. All entries for the Lighted Watercraft Parade must be turned in to B&K Bait House by Friday (for more information, call 580-339-1956 before 5pm or 580-799-4440 after 5 pm) The Festival will end with a spectacular fireworks display with over 400 aerial shots to light up the sky.
