FISHING REPORT FOR OCTOBER 28, 2009
CENTRAL
Draper: Due to pump failure and the lake's small watershed lake elevation is below normal. Boat access to the lake is poor and a longer walk to bank fish. The main fishing docks are still floating. One boat ramp is barely usable.
Overholser: October 27. Elevation 3-5 ft. below normal, water clear. Striped bass hybrids fair. Blue catfish fair on stinkbait and cut bait. Crappie fair. All other fishing fair. Report submitted by Ron Comer, game warden stationed in Canadian County.
NORTHEAST
Copan: October 26. Elevation above normal, water clear. Crappie good on minnows and jigs near submerged structure 6-8 ft. Catfish slow below the dam on chicken liver and cut shad. Report submitted by Joe Alexander, game warden stationed in Washington County.
Eucha: October 27. Elevation slightly above normal, water 58 and dingy. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 12-14 ft. around brush and structure. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits. White bass fair on rooster tails. Report submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa Fisheries.
Ft. Gibson: October 24. Elevation 9 3/4 ft. above normal, water stained. Catfish being caught on night crawlers and shrimp in the mouths of the creeks tight lining on the bottom. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits and spinnerbaits at 10-12 ft. around underwater structure. White bass slow jigging swim baits or spoons around structure. Greenleaf: October 28. Elevation normal, water clear. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jig and worm. Catfish fair on fresh cut bait on bottom around the spillway and up creek channels. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around fishing docks and brush structure. Hulah: October 26. Elevation above normal, water murky. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 8-10 ft. near submerged structure. Catfish fair on worms and cut shad below the dam. Report submitted by Joe Alexander, game warden stationed in Washington County.
Lower Illinois: October 24. Elevation above normal, water 56 and muddy. Largemouth bass slow on topwater lures all along the river in weed beds, coves and mouths of creeks. Striped bass slow on live bait at 1-2 ft. below Gore Landing. Channel catfish good on cut bait on bottom all along the river. Trout slow on flies at the surface, on rooster tails at 1-2 ft. and on power bait on bottom from the dam to Gore Landing. Report submitted by D. Tracy, Town of Gore.
Oologah: October 25. Elevation 4 ft. above normal, water upper 60s and muddy. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 10-15 ft. around brush piles. Channel catfish and blue catfish good on livers at 10-15 ft around the north end of the lake. Crappie and white bass fair on jigs below the dam. Skiatook: October 26. Elevation normal, water 50s and clear. Largemouth bass good on crankbaits and spinnerbaits around rocky banks. Crappie good on minnows and pink and white jigs at 10-15 ft. around brush. Report submitted by Paul Welch, game warden stationed in Osage County.
Sooner: October 26. Striped bass hybrids fair on live shad and slabs. Catfish fair on cut and live bait around points and channels. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around brush piles. Report submitted by Doug Gottschalk, game warden stationed in Noble County.
Spavinaw: October 27. Elevation 1/2 ft. above normal, water 56 and dingy. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around the dam area. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits. Report submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa Fisheries.
Tenkiller: October 26. Elevation 5 3/4 ft. above normal, water clear and steady. Largemouth bass fair on soft bass jigs in shallow water and on crankbaits in 8-10 ft. Crappie fair minnows, tube jigs or feathered jigs at 10-15 ft. in docks. Sunfish good on worms at 10-15 ft. in or around docks. Report by Monte Brooks Cookson Village Resort.
Webbers Falls: October 28. Elevation 3 ft. above normal, water murky. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits and crankbaits along riprap and creek channels. Catfish good on fresh cut bait on bottom. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 16 ft. around brush structure and bridges. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.
NORTHWEST
Canton: October 25. Elevation 1 ft. below normal. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs near brush piles along the dam. Report submitted by Mark Walker, game warden stationed in Blaine County.
Great Salt Plains: The fishery is recovering and anglers are catching walleye and channel catfish.
SOUTHEAST
Arbuckle: October 24. Elevation 2 ft above normal and dropping, water 65. Crappie being caught on white/chartreuse jigs around docks and brush piles. White bass being caught on spoons at 18 ft. off creek channels. Report submitted by Jack Melton.
Blue River: October 27. Elevation 2-3 inches above normal, water 57 and murky. Bass slow to fair on minnows and flies. Catfish fair to good on liver and worms. Report submitted by Charles Baker, technician at the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area.
Broken Bow: October 25. Largemouth bass good on rapalas at 8-10 ft. Walleye being caught on crawdad colored crankbaits and jigs around points and structure in the main body of the lake with the new moon phase. Report submitted by Dru Polk, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.
Eufaula: October 26. Elevation 4 ft. above normal, water murky. Largemouth bass fair on plastic baits around submerged rocks. White bass good on jigs below the dam. Blue catfish good on fresh shad below the dam. Crappie fair on jigs around boat docks. Report submitted by Ed Rodebush, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.
Hugo: October 27. Elevation 10 ft. above normal. Blue catfish good below the dam on cut shad and liver. Report submitted by Jay Harvey, game warden stationed in Choctaw County.
Konawa: October 25. Elevation normal, water 58 and clear. Largemouth bass good on crankbaits at 5-10 ft. around points. White bass and striped bass hybrids fair on minnows and jigs at 15 ft. in the discharge canal. Report submitted by Daryl Howser, game warden stationed in Seminole County.
McGee Creek: October 27. Elevation 7 ft. above normal, water 68 degrees and murky. Channel catfish fair to good on stinkbait and blood bait. Report submitted by Larry Luman, game warden stationed in Atoka County.
Pine Creek: October 25. Elevation above normal, water murky. Bass fair on crankbaits around creek mouths. Catfish fair on trotlines with cut shad at 12-18 ft. Report submitted by Mark Hannah, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.
Sardis Lake: October 26. Elevation 1 1/2 ft. above normal, water mid 60s. Largemouth bass good on spinnerbaits up the creeks. Crappie good on minnows and jigs in the timber. Channel catfish fair on juglines with cut bait in the main lake. Report submitted by James Williams, game warden Latimer and Leflore counties.
Texoma: October 25. Elevation 2 ft. above normal, water 68 and clear south and murky north. Largemouth and smallmouth bass fair to good in the south part of the lake. Striped and white bass fair to good from Catfish Bay to the south. Channel and blue catfish fair to good from Catfish Bay north. Crappie fair to good in the oxbow lakes with clear water. Wister: October 25. Elevation 10 ft. above normal, water murky. Largemouth bass good on soft plastic worms and spinnerbaits. Crappie fair on small spinnerbaits, minnows and pink jigs. SOUTHWEST
Altus-Lugert: October 25. Elevation 24 1/3 ft. below normal and steady. Striped bass hybrids good. Catfish fair to good. Report submitted by Sue Hokanson, Quartz Mountain State Park.
Foss: October 26. Elevation 2 ft. below normal and gates closed, water 65 and clear. Striped bass hybrids fair. Walleye fair on slabs. Catfish good. White bass fair. Report submitted by Eric Puyear, B & K Bait House.
