FISHING REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 3, 2010

NORTHEAST

Copan: January 22. Elevation slightly above normal, water murky. Crappie good on jigs at 10-12 ft. near the lake side of the dam. Blue catfish good on cut shad and chicken liver. Report submitted by Joe Alexander, game warden stationed in Washington County.

Eucha: January 26. Elevation slightly above normal, water 42 and dingy. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 12-14 ft. around brush and structure. Largemouth bass fair on injured shad-looking jerk baits. Report submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa.

Ft. Gibson: January 31. Elevation 3 1/2 ft. above normal, water murky. Crappie fair on minnows and pink and black jigs at 15-25 ft. under the docks and in deep brush piles. Catfish good in the main channel and below the dam on cut shad and hot dog chunks, fishing the bottom and floaters just off the bottom. Report submitted by Rick Stafford in Wagoner.

Grand: February 1. Elevation 2 ft. above normal, water 40 and clear. Largemouth bass good on 3/8 inch green and brown shaky heads at 20-30 ft. around rocky and brushy points. Smallmouth bass fair on small trick worms and small spinnerbaits in the rivers. Catfish good on shad strips, shad guts, night crawlers and shrimp at 40-60 ft. in channels. Crappie excellent on Bobby Garlands in black gum, salt and pepper, monkey milk and pink and green and on Grandpas jigs in chartreuse and purple, brown with yellow or orange heads and red and black chartreuse. Paddlefish being caught in the Sailboat Bridge area. Report submitted by Grand Lake Sports Center.

Greenleaf: February 1. Elevation normal, water clear. Catfish fair on fresh cut bait on bottom. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around fishing docks and brush structure. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

Kaw: February 1. Elevation above normal and falling, water upper 30s. Blue catfish fair on juglines with cut bait at 30-40 ft. Crappie excellent on minnows and jigs off Sarge Creek docks on jigs. Report submitted by Spencer Grace, game warden stationed in Kay County.

Keystone: February 2. Elevation 1 1/2 ft. above normal, water murky. Striped bass fair on shad and jigs below the dam early morning. Channel catfish fair on juglines with shad in the lake and on shad guts below the dam. Crappie fair on minnows and tube jigs at 15-20 ft. around brush piles in the lake. Information collected before ice and snow storm. Report submitted by Woodys Bait and Tackle II.

Lower Illinois: January 28. Elevation normal, water 48 and clear. Striped bass fair on jigs on bottom below Gore Landing. Channel catfish good on cut bait on bottom all along the river. Crappie fair on jigs at 1-3 ft. in the coves. Trout good fly-fishing on the surface, on rooster tails at 1-2 ft. and on power bait on bottom above Gore Landing. Report submitted by D. Oologah: January 31. Elevation 2 ft. above normal, water upper 40s and muddy. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around brush piles 20 ft. Blue catfish are fair on shad below the dam. Report submitted by Brek Henry, game warden stationed in Rogers County.

Spavinaw: January 26. Elevation slightly above normal, water 42 and clear. Crappie fair on minnow and jigs around the dam area. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits. Report submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa.

Webbers Falls: February 1. Elevation 2 ft. above normal, water murky. Catfish fair on fresh cut bait on bottom. Crappie fair around brush structure and bridges. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

NORTHWEST

Canton: January 31. Elevation 1 ft. below normal. Crappie good on minnows and jigs near brush along Canadian River area. Report submitted by Mark Walker, game warden stationed in Blaine County.

SOUTHEAST

Arbuckle: January 29. Elevation 1 ft. above normal, water clear. Crappie being caught on chartreuse jigs at 28-35 ft around brush piles. White bass at 12 ft. up Guy Sandy on flats. Bass slow on jerk baits and jigs. Report submitted by Jack Melton.

Blue River: February 2. Elevation slightly above normal, water 39 and murky. Trout fair on power bait, corn, salmon eggs and in-line spinnerbaits. Fly-fishing fair on woolly buggers, caddis flies, and soft hackles. Channel catfish good on stinkbait and cut bait. Report submitted by Matt Gamble, biologist at the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area.

Broken Bow: January 31. Catfish good on juglines and trotlines with cut bait. Crappie fair on jigs around structure. Walleye fair to good on crawdad colored crankbaits and grubs in the upper end around points. Report submitted by Dru Polk, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.

Eufaula: January 31. Elevation 1 1/2 ft. above normal, water murky. Blue catfish fair on shad over deeper flats. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around docks and brush. Report submitted by Ed Rodebush, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.

Hugo: January 31. Elevation 2 ft. above normal. Crappie and white bass fair on jigs below the dam. Report submitted by Jay Harvey, game warden stationed in Choctaw County.

McGee Creek: January 31. Elevation 2 1/2 ft. above normal, water 46 and clear. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 16-25 ft. Crappie best off creek channels around submerged brush. Report submitted by Larry Luman, game warden stationed in Atoka County.

Pine Creek: January 31. Elevation above normal, water clear. Bass fair on salt craws near points. Crappie good on minnows at 12-15 ft. around brush piles. Catfish good on yo-yos baited with stinkbait. Report submitted by Mark Hannah, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.

Robert S. Kerr: January 26. Elevation normal, water murky. Catfish fair on fresh shad and at drop-offs between the river channel and shallower water. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs in Big San Bois Creek arm. Report submitted by Leland Sockey, game warden stationed in Haskell County.

Sardis Lake: January 31. Elevation 2 ft. above normal, water mid 40s. Crappie good on minnows at 25 ft. Report submitted by Dane Polk, game warden stationed in Pushmataha County.

Texoma: January 31. Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water 45 and mostly clear. Smallmouth bass fair around the sandy points. Striped bass fair to good in the creek channels. Blue catfish fair to good from Catfish bay north. Crappie fair around fishing docks with brush. Paddlefish fair below the dam. Report submitted by Danny Clubb, game warden stationed in Bryan County.

Wister: January 31. Elevation 3 ft. above normal, water murky. Crappie good on minnows and jigs at 12-15 ft. around structure. Channel catfish fair on juglines with cut shad and liver. Report submitted by Randy Fennell, game warden stationed in LeFlore County.

SOUTHWEST

Foss: February 2. Elevation 1 1/2 ft. below normal with gates closed, water low 40s and clear. Crappie good around marina and fish house. Striped bass hybrids fair in deep water. Report submitted by Eric Puyear, B & K Bait House.
