FISHING REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 24, 2010
NORTHEAST
Ft. Gibson: February 21. Elevation 1/2 ft. above normal and dropping, water clear. Crappie fair on minnows and black and chartreuse jigs in deep structure and under deep docks. White bass fair jigging deep channels under the bridge at Taylors Ferry. Report submitted by Rick Stafford in Wagoner
Greenleaf: February 22. Elevation normal, water clear. Catfish fair on fresh cut bait at the spillway and on bottom. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around fishing docks and brush structure. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.
Kaw: February 22. Elevation below normal, water mid 30s and clear. Blue catfish fair on juglines with cut bait at 25-35 ft. Crappie excellent on minnows and jigs at 22-28 ft. north of Kaw City and under the Washunga Bay bridge during times of water release. Crappie also good on jigs around Pioneer Marina docks. White Bass good on jigs 20-25 ft north of Kaw City. Report submitted by Spencer Grace, game warden stationed in Kay County.
Keystone: February 24. Elevation 1 1/3 ft. above normal, water murky. White bass good on jigs and split-tail grubs early morning and afternoon below the dam. Striped bass fair on jigs and shad below the dam. Channel catfish fair on juglines with shad in the lake and below the dam. Crappie fair on minnows and tube jigs at 15-20 ft. around brush piles and docks on the lake. Report submitted by Woodys Bait and Tackle II.
Oologah: February 21. Elevation 3 1/2 ft. above normal and rising, water upper 40s and muddy. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 20 ft. around brush piles. Blue catfish fair on shad below the dam. Report submitted by Brek Henry, game warden stationed in Rogers County.
Sooner: February 23. White bass and striped bass hybrids fair on sassy shad and topwater lures in the discharge. Blue catfish excellent on cut shad in the discharge. Report submitted by Doug Gottschalk, game warden stationed in Noble County.
Webbers Falls: February 22. Elevation 3 ft. above normal, water murky. Catfish fair on fresh cut bait on bottom and drift fishing. Crappie fair around brush structure and bridges. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.
NORTHWEST
Ft. Supply: February 22. Elevation 1/2 ft. above normal. White bass good on jigs and small spoons in riprap along the dam. Report submitted by David Rempe, game warden stationed in Harper County.
SOUTHEAST
Arbuckle: February 20. Elevation normal, water 41-44 and clear to stained in creeks. White bass being caught on slabs and spoons at 25 ft water midway up creeks. Crappie being caught on chartreuse jigs at 28-35 ft around brush piles. Bass being caught on jigs, jerk baits and Carolina rigs. Report submitted by Jack Melton.
Blue River: February 23. Elevation 4 inches above normal, water 47 and murky to muddy. Bass slow to fair on minnows and flies. Catfish fair on liver and worms. Trout fair to good on power bait, super dupers, rooster tails and meal worms. Report submitted by Charles Baker, technician at the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area.
Broken Bow: February 22. Largemouth and spotted bass good on spoons at 40-50 ft. Crappie should pick up by the end of the month. Walleye should start to run at the end of the month on crawdad colored crankbaits and spider grubs with 1/4 ounce lead heads. Report submitted by Dru Polk, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.
Eufaula: February 21. Elevation 2 ft. above normal, water murky. Blue catfish fair on shad drifting the deep flats. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around boat docks with brush. Report submitted by Ed Rodebush, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.
Hugo: February 20. Elevation 2 ft. above normal. Crappie fair on minnows along the river channel. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits and plastics around deep structure. Crappie good on jigs at 11-16 ft. below the dam. Report submitted by Jay Harvey, game warden stationed in Choctaw County.
Konawa: February 22. Elevation normal, water 41 and clear. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits at 5-10 ft. along points and discharge canal. Report submitted by Ed Rodebush, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.
McGee Creek: February 21. Elevation 4 inches above normal, water 46 and clear. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 16-25 ft. best off of creek channels around submerged brush. Report submitted by Larry Luman, game warden stationed in Atoka County
Pine Creek: February 21. Elevation 3 ft. above normal, water clear. Bass good on jigs around rocky structures in deep water. Crappie fair on minnows around brush. Catfish good on chicken liver and stinkbaits. Report submitted by Mark Hannah, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.
Sardis: February 21. Elevation 1/2 ft. below normal, water 43. Crappie fair on minnows at 25 ft. Report submitted by Dane Polk, game warden stationed in Pushmataha County.
Texoma: February 21. Elevation 2 1/2 ft. above normal, water 44 and clear south and muddy north. Largemouth and smallmouth bass fair in the south part of lake. Striped and white bass fair to good in the south part of the lake. Channel and blue catfish fair from Catfish Bay north. Crappie fair in the creeks with clear water. Paddlefish fair below the dam.
Wister: February 20. Elevation 1 1/2 ft. above normal, water murky. Crappie good on minnows and jigs at 15-25 ft. around structure. Channel catfish fair on juglines with cut shad and liver. Report submitted by Randy Fennell, game warden stationed in LeFlore County.
SOUTHWEST
Ellsworth: February 21. Elevation normal and one floodgate open. Crappie good on jigs and minnows at 12-17 ft. Report submitted by Mike Carroll, game warden stationed in Comanche County.
Foss: February 23. Elevation 3/4 ft. below normal with gates closed, water mid 30s and clear. Crappie fair on live bait around fishing house. Fishing report submitted by Eric Puyear, B & K Bait House.
